New Delhi: Star India batter, Suryakumar Yadav is all set to lead the T20I Series against Australia in a 5-match competition. As per a report by Cricbuzz, the Mumbai Indians man has been chosen to lead the Men in Blue in the upcoming series starting from 23rd November, whereas VVS Laxman will lead the side.

The report also said that most of the players that have played the Ireland T20I series in August have been retained, while the captain of that series, Jasprit Bumrah has given rest.

India will come into the series after a heart-breaking loss in the ICC World Cup 2023 Final against the Aussies.

At a packed Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision which surprised many. But the pitch being slow and tough to make runs, with Cummins picking 2/40 and setting impressive fields, meant India were bowled out for 240, a total which Australia chased down in 43 overs, thanks to Travis Head’s superb 137.

Batting first on a pitch which is very slow and a tricky surface, had already put India onto the backfoot. Be it batting, bowling, or fielding, Australia completely dominated the set-up and Team India looked clueless in the game. The loss couldn’t be attributed to a single player obviously but there were instances where the team didn’t just put up the show.

India, who had enjoyed a remarkable run in the World Cup with ten consecutive victories, seemed unprepared for a collapse. Coach Dravid acknowledged that the team fell short by 30-40 runs of the par score, emphasising the challenging conditions during their batting innings.

Australia lifted their sixth men’s ODI World Cup title and have won a total of 8 World titles in the history of the gentleman’s game.
